Multi-format vial filling and sealing machine for Biotech processes
November 2011
Grifols Engineering completes the design and construction of a new vial filler and sealer. It is flexible and adapted specifically to Biotech product requirements.
The machine has been designed to fill vials of 1, 2, 4, 7, 10, and 25 ml and it can work with various cap sizes and formats (insulin/penicillin). Vials are capped using a crimping station.
The filling machine is fully automatic. Sensors are strategically placed at each stage of the process, providing complete control of all the different elements involved in the operation. The control system is PLC based with a touch-screen for operating and supervising the process.
This new vial filler has a production capacity of 1800 units/hour.
Unlike standard filling machines this one:
The machine has been designed in compliance with the strictest requirements in accordance with Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs)
During the design phase, an operations process flow analysis was made which covered: the steps traced by the machine operators, the best way to position the machine, the size of the trays, a study of the laminar flow zones etc.
Biotech companies require a specific type of machinery for sterile filling. These are generally small batches that require a highly precise dosage volume and maximum safety conditions.
Grifols Engineering provides solutions in the form of machinery and integrated equipment with a high added value guaranteeing that we fulfill our customer's needs.
