Grifols Engineering constructs a new plasma fractionation plant for Instituto Grifols
October 2011
The new plant, which figures in the group's industrial investment plan, will increase Grifols' plasma fractionation capacity.
Last July, construction work started on the new fractionation plant located in Parets del Vallès at Grifols' industrial complex. Grifols Engineering, the group's engineering and consultancy company that specializes in the biopharmaceutical industry will handle the design and construction of the new processing equipment, production facilities and civil engineering.
The new plant will have around twenty fully automatic process reactors, plus an automated line for fusion of the plasma solution. The installations have been designed taking into account ease of operation and process safety. Additionally the production areas will be visible from the technical areas through a series of windows and corridors to avoid having to interfere in the production process. Large curtain walls will reveal the reactors and most important machinery so that this can be seen from the outside.
Civil engineering work is expected to continue until February 2012 and by summer of the same year work on installations, clean rooms and other production areas should be completed.
This is the fifth plasma fractionation plant carried out by Grifols Engineering around the world.
